A Climate-Smart Food and Nature Campus in Ido, Ibadan
APEARE’s flagship demonstration site where farming, climate action, and community life come together. A place where agriculture shifts from extractive and harmful to regenerative, profitable, and nature-positive.
Regenerative Agriculture
Food sustains life on Earth. Every living organism depends on it to function, thrive, and reproduce. Yet, the systems that produce our food, especially industrial agriculture, are increasingly unsustainable.
Driven by the pressure to feed a growing population, conventional agriculture has become extractive, contributing to deforestation, biodiversity loss, and rising carbon emissions. The question is no longer how much food we can produce, but at what cost to the planet and future generations.
Two Persistent Barriers
FBG was created to close these gaps. It is a place where farmers, youth, researchers, and community members can see, learn, and experience what sustainable agriculture looks like in real life.
This urgent question underpins the global call to transition from extractive farming to regenerative agriculture, a nature-positive approach that restores soil health, enhances biodiversity, and strengthens community resilience.
The site is organized into five connected zones, each serving a unique purpose in our climate-smart agriculture demonstration
ZONE A
Shaded nursery, compost pits, and local crop trials that teach soil health and regenerative practices
ZONE B
Raised beds, irrigation systems, and a weekly farmers’ market where fresh produce is sold
ZONE C
Poultry pens, fish ponds, and organic manure recycling to demonstrate circular farming
ZONE D
Solar-powered cold rooms, drying shed, and battery systems that reduce post-harvest losses
ZONE E
Administrative building and guest chalets for interns, researchers, and visitors
FBG is more than a farm. It is a catalyst for transformation, combining climate-smart infrastructure with community-centered design.
Practical demonstration of regenerative agriculture principles in action
Empowering farmers, youth, and climate innovators with hands-on experience
Creating vital green space for a rapidly urbanizing community
Demonstrating that sustainable farming can be profitable, scalable, and joyful
By combining climate-smart infrastructure with community-centered design, FBG aims to shift agriculture from a source of degradation to a source of regeneration.
We invite partners, donors, volunteers, and community members to be part of this bold vision. Together, we can build a model for peri-urban resilience — where food, climate, and community thrive side by side.
Empower farmers and create a model for peri-urban resilience
