What We Do
At APEARE, we bring people together to take meaningful action for the environment. Our work focuses on helping communities adapt to climate change, restore degraded ecosystems, and build resilience through nature-based solutions. Every program and project we run is rooted in collaboration, local knowledge, and a deep respect for the land.

Our Programs
Green Resilience
Green Resilience is APEARE’s integrated approach to strengthening communities through nature-based solutions, climate-smart infrastructure, and adaptive planning. It focuses on building ecological and social systems that can withstand climate shocks while enhancing everyday quality of life.
Key Pillars:
- Nature-Based Solutions: Promoting ecosystem restoration to buffer communities against environmental risks.
- Climate-Smart Infrastructure: Supporting green spaces, permeable surfaces, and sustainable water systems that reduce urban heat and flooding.
- Community Adaptation: Empowering local stakeholders to co-design and maintain resilient systems that reflect their needs and values.
- Policy & Planning: Advocating for inclusive policies that embed resilience into urban development and rural revitalization.
Impact Focus:
- Reduced vulnerability to climate extremes
- Improved public health and environmental quality
- Strengthened local capacity for climate adaptation
- Enhanced biodiversity and ecosystem services
Reforestation
We restore Nigeria’s forests by planting native tree species tailored to each agro-ecological zone. Forests are powerful allies—they absorb carbon, protect biodiversity, and help communities adapt to climate shocks.
We’ve planted thousands of trees across zones like:
- Humid Forest: Iroko, Mahogany, Oil Palm
- Guinea Savannah: Shea, Locust Bean, Acacia
- Sudan & Sahel Savannah: Baobab, Neem, Desert Date
FARMAES: Food & Agriculture Resilience
FARMAES stands for Food and Agriculture Resilience through Multi-functional Agroforestry and Ecological Systems. It’s our flagship approach to climate-smart farming—combining trees, crops, and soil-friendly practices to boost yields, protect biodiversity, and reduce vulnerability.
We help farmers:
- Diversify crops and income sources
- Improve soil health and water retention
- Reduce reliance on harmful chemicals
- Adapt to changing rainfall and temperature patterns
FARMAES is farming with nature—resilient, regenerative, and rooted in community.
